Hello,
I had to replace my solenoid switch on the starter and now I have a strange problem. Because the car would not start after reinstallation, I removed the starter again and tested it.
The starter itself works, but when I connect it through the solenoid switch and "start" it, the solenoid switch gets hot and the starter does not turn. During repeated disassembly and reassembly, I forgot the spring in the solenoid switch once. The strange thing is, without the spring the solenoid switch works as it should, with the spring installed there seems to be a short circuit.... Can anyone explain this? I also tested my old solenoid switch and get the same behavior.
(The reason I replaced it was because a contact on the old solenoid switch broke off when I removed the starter).
